I’m not sure about you, but I could play hours and hours of old Sega games, like Sonic, Sonic 2 and even Sonic 3! Like all good things, it couldn’t last forever. An Xbox replaced my old Genesis, which now resides buried someplace out in a storage shed. However, this lovely Saturday morning, I felt like going back to my roots. I could try and find the actual system and then hope, after over a decade of no use, it still worked. Or, use my old Sonic CD for PC. But after 20 minutes of play, the keyboard just didn’t feel right. So I set out to make an old Genesis controller work with my PC, and make it wireless.

The Super Nintendo; the best gaming system ever made in my opinion. It hosted so many of the greatest games and it’s where my first gaming experiences came to life. I remember when my sister and I opened up the Super Nintendo during Christmas. Our faces lit up like light bulbs  and we high-fived each other like we just won a competitive game of Kemps. Electronic Arts plans to revive the Need for Speed series by launching three “Play 4 Free” games this year. Need for Speed: Shift will be released for PC, Xbox 360, PS3 and PSP this coming Autumn and Need for Speed: Nitro will launch at the same time for Wii and DS. Being rumored for a while, Western Digital has released the first 2 terabyte hard drive. When released, the new drive will be the biggest as far as capacity is concerned. It will be an addition to WD’s popular cool and quiet Caviar Green series. The drive is based on their current leading 500GB per platter technology and will feature 32 MB cache. Look out Seagate!

Gears of War Broken?

Epic games seem to have inadvertently shot themselves in the foot yesterday when their digital certification for Gears of War (PC) expired, as it was scheduled to. Thus rendering the game unplayable, displaying the following message: ‘You cannot run this game with modified executable code, please reinstall’. According to one of the Moderators on Epic’s forums:

Yes, this was a surprise to us too. We have been notified of the issue and are working with Microsoft to get it resolved. Sorry for any problems related to this.

If you are one of the many that is affected by this problem, rest assured, the problem has been identified and a fix is in the works.
