Having been a fan of the Burnout series for a while, I was excited that Burnout: Paradise would be coming to the PC. However, I can’t help but feel that it needs an overhaul at this point. That is exactly what Criterion (developer) tried, but it doesn’t seem to be enough. Sure, they added motorcycles and an open city, but it still feels old and not in that ‘familiarly good’ way, in an ‘already done’ way.

DIY: GPU Cooler Replacment

Ask any geek (whilst he/she is on the PC) and they could tell you their CPU speed, RAM usage, or most importantly their current temperatures. However, if you happened to ask me about my GPU temp during a slightly demanding game I would simply say “too high”. For a month or so I let my GPU run at 80C on load. Depending on who you ask, the normal temp is around 50C-60C. Why did I not upgrade the cooler on my GPU? Simply put, FEAR. No, not the game. I was afraid that I would mess up my new card when installing an aftermarket GPU cooler. But this weekend I took the jump and now I have a guide for all those with high temps but don’t have the encouragement to do anything about it.

PSP to get new paint jobs

Getting tired of the old Black and Silver Sony PSP? According to Electronic Theatre, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has announced three brand new colors for the PSP-3000 units coming to the UK . Mystic Silver and Pearl White will be available later this month and Radiant Red will be released sometime next month.

The PSP-3000, which was released last year, saw huge improvements from previous PSP versions. It includes a built-in microphone and an improved screen able to resist glare. With the new firmware, released last month, you can now have more media options for your videos, pictures, and music. Some newer online features include, Radio, PSP ONLINE, updates to Skype for PSP, and a new internet browser.

Recently, an interesting process has come to light that allows anyone with proper drivers and an Nvidia GPU to output video in steroscopic. Here are the instructions on how to perform this hack yourself. Don’t forget to check out the entire list of supported games. Fallout 3 DLC Delayed

After the less than stellar release of the Operation Ancorage DLC for Fallout 3, some people where hoping that the next few DLC bits would redeem the game. However, those two pieces of DLC that gamers have been expecting (named “The Pitt” and “Broken Steel”) were originally planned to release soon, but have just recently been pushed back another month to be released this coming March (The Pitt) and April (Broken Steel).

Left4Dead DLC News

A few small nuggets of information regarding Left4Dead‘s upcoming DLC have been passed onto us gamers. According to Gabe Newell himself, the DLC is to be 100% free of charge to PC owners of the game. As far as Xbox 360 owners, we are still unsure what the DLC will cost you.

Now that Microsoft unveiled the different versions of Windows 7, the pricing for the new OS has been released. According to Windows Secrets, the declared prices probably won’t tickle your fancy.

Everest 5.0 Released

Software developer, Lavalys has released a new version of the popular computer monitoring program, Everest.

Everest 5.0 brings an improved hardware monitoring module with a new “Alerting” feature, support for OpenGL 3.0, support for Windows 7, new features for installed Windows Vista Sidebar Gadgets, and GPU device information for ATI Stream and NVIDIA CUDA.  The most crucial update to the new version is the support for Intel’s Core I7 and Atom and also AMD’s Phenom II processors.

Everest 5.0 can be downloaded as a trial or you can purchase Everest Ultimate Edition and Everest Corporate Edition for US $34.95 and $19.95 respectively.  More information can be found here.

Battlefield 1943 News

EA and Dice have today released news about the next installment in the Battlefield series, to be set in World War II, 1943.

Although there will only be 3 maps, Battlefield 1943 will be released on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. No release date has been set as of yet.
