Steam Makes Changes to DLC

Steam, Valve’s digital distribution system, has just announced changes that will allow even more post-release content for games. This is nothing new because Valve is known for supporting and updating their games long after their release. But Valve has now made it easy for developers to support their games further through Steam.
“Valve, creators of best-selling entertainment products and advanced technologies, today announced the arrival of in-game downloadable content to Steam, their massively popular PC gaming platform. In-game DLC allows developers and publishers to use their own games as a platform for selling additional content to gamers,” – According to a press release from Valve.
The only downside to this change is that it could possibly bring the end of free updates and content for our games. Perhaps PC gamers will be in the same boat as console gamers; having to pay for new maps and features. Time will tell.
