Oklahoma Electronic Game Expo

One thing that rarely occurs in Oklahoma is anything related to gaming, especially with game development. So when I heard that there was an electronic expo in town and some of the main speakers were involved in game creation, I was stoked needless to say. The Oklahoma Electronic Game Expo was this past Saturday and I must say, I’ll be returning next year.

Bioshock 2 Gameplay Footage Released

bioshock

I am the first to admit, we are a few days late with this news. It seems to have hit just about every gaming news site and now it is Tech Olive’s belated turn. The reason I delayed this post a few days was because of all the rumors and fake reports that have been flying around about this game, but, no matter the past, here is a taste of what to expect from Bioshock 2.

Nvidia Releases $9.99 GPU

gpu

First of all, the title may be a little misleading, so I apologize. I couldn’t resist, but you know you wanted to believe it. Anyway, Nvidia has just released a new product for their online store. A genuine G98 Nvidia GPU core, sealed in a 1.5″ square of clear Lucite, complete with an attached keyring for everyday use. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want one of these things and I have a sneaking suspicion that I will end up buying one…..for the good of the Olive, of course.

steamusb

Yes, the above image is sort of misleading, but it’s the only clever thing that I came up with. It’ll soon make sense.

It seems illogical, but you have to admit that this steam powered USB charger is the best thing since the Wall-E Case Mod. According to the inventor, this energy efficient USB charging station is based on a Jensen #75 steam engine, which is used to drive a Lego Technic motor. The motor is connected to a voltage regulator, providing a 5V charge for your USB devices to enjoy.

Please mass produce these things!

A New Zune on the Way?

zunehd

It seems that Microsoft isn’t giving up all hope just yet. Something is boiling in the Zune pot and it looks to be a completely redesigned, HD supported Zune. Images provided here are more than likely the marketing campaign designs for Microsoft’s new portable media player.

No specs or prices have been announced yet.

New Zeno Clash Content

zeno-clash1

Zeno Clash developer, Ace Team, has released a new trailer for Zeno Clash and announced their plans for future game development.

We’re exhausted now that we are reaching the end of the development cycle of Zeno Clash. It’s been two hard years of little sleep and a lot of work, so we are announcing that after Zeno Clash we will not continue to develop such ambitious projects. Instead we will focus in smaller titles with shorter development cycles. Our new direction will be ‘point and click’ adventure games. We’re releasing our first adventure game for free. ‘The Malstrums Mansion’, is available HERE – Andres Bordeu

And last but not least, watch the new Zeno Clash trailer below.

Greatest Games Ever

best-games

After an unbelievably massive poll taken by UK game retailer ‘Game’, they have managed to get a set of results from the nearly 100,000 votes they processed. With the top three games shown above, head to Game’s site for the final results and the complete breakdown. I only wish that they would mention how many votes each game received.
