DIY: Case Fan Dust Filters

The greatest enemy of all computer systems is dust. It gets everywhere and clogs everything. Some prefer to water cool their PC, or use expensive filters. In this quicky, we’ll show you an alternative, cheap and easy way to filter out dust!
You’ll only need a dryer Anti-Static Sheet. These come in packs of 10 to 500 and are about $3.50 at any local grocery store. The procedure is as simple as cutting the desired shape out of the sheet and taping it to your fan/guard. You can have multiple layers it if you like, but the more resistance there is, the less effective your fan is.
Of course at the moment I can hear several users complaining, “But there are big holes in the sheet, how is that supposed to stop dust?” Being Anti-Static Sheets, they hold a static charge that attracts dust!
The only problem being that after a month or so they need changing. I found paper towels and tissues last longer, but cut into the airflow too much for my liking. Experiment and find what works best for you, then come back and tell us your success!

Well, to be honest i have used ladies “pantyhose” cut roughly to the size of the fan, rubbed against your hair or something to give it a little bit of a static charge, doesnt seem to hinder airflow a whole lot, cheap, washable, and last a month or so before needing to be cleaned. Plus as a pluside, they come in black so they dont stand out from everything else in your case.

Instead of rubbing it against your hair to charge it, why not put it on a CRT screen ? remember the how charged the old TV screens were when you turned’em off ?
