DTV Transistion Is Today

2002 (proof).pdf

That’s right. Today’s June 12 and that means the DTV is in full swing. It’s been one hell of a ride the past couple of years, but we finally made it. So throw away those rusty rabbit ears because you won’t be needing those ever again.

How’s your DTV experience going so far?

Horrible, I bought my Apex DTV box for 3.63(that’s tax only) (it was 40 at target and I had the card) I bought a smart antenna for 53 dollars. I get it home and guess what…nothing. No channels were found, the only channel that was found was 23 miles away. It wasn’t even able to pick up the one closest to me. Fox 28′s DTV tower is a mile from my house and it can’t pick it up. So I switched to the HAM RADIO antenna I have siting beside my house. (This is a large antenna used to talk to people all the way in china) I pick up some this time but the picture is very choppy. In the end I returned everything and I am back to Hulu.com

So everyone in America is digital now? Sweet. That’ll happen in Aus soon. Although, most people have Digital TV’s/Set Top Boxes anyway.

My limited experience (I have cable) with it has been less than great. I don’t know if it’s a cheap box, but from what I’ve seen is that stormy weather that might make regular TV a bit fuzzy will completely knock out DTV

On a side note, despite the multimillion dollar campaign telling people about the switch the FCC got more than 300,000 calls the day after from people wondering what happened to their TV.
