Infinity Ward Talks About Co-op in Modern Warfare 2

Most of us know that Call of Duty: World at War featured four-player co-op through the game’s campaign as well as a survival zombie mode. Infinity Ward has chosen with Modern Warfare 2 to not add a campaign co-op, but rather craft special missions designed for co-op, a two-player Special Ops mode. This way, Infinity Ward can design the campaign to provide the best experience possible in single player.
“We don’t do co-op in our story because we’re crafting a very specific experience and we don’t want to ruin that by cramming co-op into it. We take the moments that work really well with co-op, we bring them out and we put them in Special Ops.” –Robert Bowling, IW Community Manager
When asked why only two players for co-op, Robert Bowling had this to say:
“Two player seemed to be the magic number for co-op. That’s when it stayed really fun and intense without becoming a clusterfuck of things. We just found that two-players was the most fun.”

aww Don’t say that Cod4 single player was so awesome. If you didn’t play it shame on you. Can’t wait I love co-op when done properly.
