Developers Laid Off Following Launch of AA3

AA3

Anyone who’s been paying attention to the latest games would know that America’s Army 3 had a less than stellar launch. Following the launch, the US Army closed theirĀ  main developer in an attempt to “consolidate development.” They have not admitted this layoff having anything to do with the abysmal launch of the game.

A representative from the “surviving” development team said that the development of future America’s Army games will happen from a different development team location.

“This consolidation will allow us to gain efficiencies between our public and government applications,” according to a representative from the current dev team. ” We appreciate all the hard work that every member of the America’s Army team has contributed to the project, and we look forward to delivering future America’s Army game releases in the months ahead.”

iPhone OS 3.0 Impressions

iphone-30

Alright, I feel that it is necessary to voice my opinion on the new iPhone 3.0 update being the only writer for Tech Olive that actually owns/uses an iPhone.

First of all I think it is important to remind you all of one thing that many have overlooked: The update is an iPhone update, not an iPod Touch update. Therefore, all you disgruntled iPod Touch users that are upset because you felt jipped of new features, cool your jets.

Samsung has unveiled the world’s first 32GB DDR3 memory module. It’s only for servers at the moment, so you won’t be able to go out and buy a stick for your pimped out workstation at home.

Metal Gear Solid Coming to PSN

mgs

Today Konami has announced that their original Metal Gear Solid game will be released on PSN for $9.99. There’s no mention as to whether the game will be remade, graphically or otherwise for this port, but then again, MGS doesn’t exactly need to be remade in any way.

PNY seems to have quite a few giveaways on their gaming site, XLR8 Gaming. Most recently, they are giving away a game by the name of Crazy Machines 2. America’s Army 3 Released Free on Steam

aa3

While we were all sitting quietly waiting for the ArmA II demo to release, America’s Army 3 seems to have crept up on us and tipped our chair back. The full game is free to anyone who wants to be recruited by the US Army try it out. Although the game is supposedly “released”, Steam is “preloading” it for me currently. I guess we’ll see what happens when the download finishes.

Share your AA3 experiences in the comments.

EDIT: So, after a few hours of downloading, it finally finishes and I am greeted with: “Status: Pre-load complete; unreleased” in my games list. WTF, Steam?! Anyone else having issues with their game not unlocking?

EDIT 2: I got it to run by manually running the .exe from the game’s directory. Steam still thinks it’s locked, but the game runs fine. The only problem is that after a training session, it doesn’t save your progress. I guess I’ll leave it for the night and see how it goes tomorrow.
