Microsoft has finally announced the pricing for the upcoming Windows 7 OS. View a quick and dirty breakdown of the prices after the break.

Retail prices for upgrades of Windows 7 in the U.S. are:

  • Windows 7 Home Premium: $119.99
  • Windows 7 Professional: $199.99
  • Windows 7 Ultimate: $219.99

Retail prices for full packaging of Windows 7 in the U.S. are:

  • Windows 7 Home Premium: $199.99
  • Windows 7 Professional: $299.99
  • Windows 7 Ultimate: $319.99

Starting tomorrow, you’ll be able to pre-order upgrades at a much cheaper price though. $49.99 for Home Premium and $99.99 for Professional. Thing is, pre-orders will be very limited and are expected to sell out quickly.

HP computers sold after tomorrow will receive free upgrades to Windows 7 and it’s expected that Sony will do the same.

UPDATE: According to a tipster, we received word that Europeans will get the full version of Windows 7 for the same price as an upgrade.
