Pandemic Studios has announced the release date for their upcoming open-world WWII action title, The Saboteur. Though it doesn’t list the consoles it will release on, they only gave one date, so it’s safe to assume the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will all launch (world-wide) on December 8, 2009.

Most recently Microsoft has made the move to release LinuxIC under the GPLv2.
LinuxIC are drivers that allow Linux kernels to utilize Microsoft’s Hyper-V, that is, allowing Linux to use a virtualized computing environment running several operating systems at the same time, but completely isolated from one another. Not a new concept, as Windows Server 2008 has been doing this for quite some time, but it’s the fact that Microsoft is releasing it for free and the user is welcome to modify and redistribute it. Could this mean a more open software network where large corporations release full operating systems for free one day?
Let’s here your opinions!

On July 16, Nikon released a Service Advisory effecting their new D5000 series cameras. The D5000 cameras that have been on the market for a couple months are now apparently experiencing problems related to the On switch. According the the Nikon Service Advisory:
- The camera cannot be operated when the power switch is on, even with a fully-charged battery.
- The camera cannot be operated with the EH-5a AC Adapter connected through the EP-5 Power Connector and the power switch on.
This could be a massive pain for any Nikon D5000 users. A camera that won’t power on isn’t much of a camera at all, but if you are a Nikon D5000 user, don’t be too worried, you can find out if your camera is affected by visiting the Nikon Service Advisory page after July 23. The report stated that they will have a serial number look up tool posted on or after that date.

It’s said that Apple factories in China are rolling out iPod Touch units with cameras and microphones installed. Sources say they will go on sale in two to three months.
This would make the iPod Touch one step closer to becoming an iPhone. Still, one of the biggest reasons why the iPhone is so superior is the 3G obviously, but once you get a hold of Verizon’s or Sprint’s MiFi, you’ll be set to go.
Nothing was said about the cost of the new iPod Touch units.

Robert Bowling, community manager for Infinity Ward has recently announced, via Twitter, that talks are going on about the design of an upcoming custom controller for Modern Warfare 2. In their traditional style, the announcement came shrouded in secrecy and only brings questions.
In a design meeting for a #MW2 controller. Need your advice – Concave or Convex grips for the Analog sticks? Whats your preference and why?
So, which do you prefer?
UPDATE: Joystiq says that Robert Bowling noted that the controller “isn’t being manufactured by Infinity Ward or Activision.”

Unfortunately (or is it a good thing), none of us here at the Olive play WoW, so we can’t quite test it or tell you about how it works, but follow the break for a nice quote from Blizzard, perhaps it will answer a few of your questions.

Today is the 40th anniversary of Apollo 11, which was the space flight that carried Neil Armstrong, Edwin Aldrin and Michael Collins to the moon on July 20, 1969. Armstrong and Aldrin were the first people to ever set foot on the moon and I’m sure we all remember Armstrong’s memorable quote that day:
One small step for man, one giant leap for nerd kind!
No? Dang it.
