LG, formally #5 in the mobile phone market in 2007, now looks to overtake Samsung at #2 by 2012, according to a recent interview with LG’s president for mobile business. Having overtaken Sony Ericson and Motorola in the last couple of years, LG is looking to further expand to multiple areas of the mobile phone market. With a total of 80 phones planned for release in 2009, LG is aiming to release phones competing with Apple’s iPhone, Nokia’s luxury Vertu line, and HTC in the Android market. Included in this lineup is the next generation of LG’s bestselling Chocolate series, announced earlier this week and planned for release in August. Few details have been released about the phone, only that it will sport some sort of innovative screen.

While some might say that LG is spreading itself thin, attacking all of these markets at once, I have confidence that LG can get a foothold and I would not be surprised to see them overtake Samsung sooner than 2012. I’m especially excited to see what they plan for their Android phone as I feel that the market is already becoming stale with HTC’s nearly identical Dream (G1), Magic (myTouch), and Hero.

OCZ Sabre Released

ocz

OCZ’s newest gaming keyboard, the Sabre, has just started shipping out to customers. For $135, you get what OCZ considers “the world’s most intelligent gaming keyboard”. Personally, I don’t think a keyboard can be a “gaming keyboard” without full back-lit keys. The OLED-lit buttons are cool, but they’re so far away that you shouldn’t expect to use them in the heat of battle. I’ll stick with my Logitech G15, thank you.

Modern Warfare 2 Box Art Shown

head

Through a recent Twitter post by Infinity Ward’s community manager, we’ve been given a picture of Modern Warfare 2‘s packaging (partially pictured above). The first thing you’ll notice is the inclusion of “Call of Duty” once again in the game’s title. Personally, I don’t care much about the name change, it’s not gonna affect the game one way or the other. And am I the only one who doesn’t like the cover art? Follow the break for the full image.

After yesterday’s rumor of Nividia’s 40nm supposedly being released this September, Nvidia has now officially posted up the two cards on their website. The GeForce G210 will have a 589MHz core clock speed, 512MB of DDR2 RAM and a 64-bit memory interface, while the GeForce GT 220 will include a 615MHz core clock speed, 1GB of GDDR3 RAM and a 128-bit memory interface. Both cards support DirectX 10.1, OpenGL 3.0, and CUDA. As for the outputs, the G210 has VGA, DisplayPort and DVI, while the GT 220 has VGA, HDMI and DVI.

The disappointing news is that these cards will only be offered in OEM machines. No official word yet on when.
