Google Announces Chrome OS

Yeah, we could’ve seen this one coming from a mile away, even with all the rumors flying around the past few months. Google has officially announced their open-source Chrome OS. They say they are working with several OEM manufacturers and hope to get their new OS to appear on some netbooks sometime in the second half of next year.

Mini Review: Trine (PC)

trine0

When I started playing Trine, I was shocked that I hadn’t heard anything about it prior to its release. Sure, it’s not quite as unique as games like Braid, but if it was any good, I expected to hear at least a little buzz about it. When Trine released, I almost passed it by so that I could spend my time reviewing other important games, but while I was in the middle of reviewing another game, I decided to play Trine. One thing led to another and here we are, the Trine mini review.

Have you ever went out and spent $80+ on an HDMI cable? Most of us probably haven’t due to the fact that we’re all smart shoppers, right? But, there are still some that pay way more than they should for a stinkin’ cable. We’ve all also probably heard the classic phrase, “you can get the same quality for a better/lower price.”

Optimized Cable Company is a brand new company that specializes in, well, cables obviously. Their goal is to provide consumers with quality cables at an affordable price, something we all like to hear. They sent us one of their 3-foot HDMI cables to try to prove that point, and they definitely did a lot of proving.

News has just released that developer Codemasters is delaying DiRT 2 so that they can implement DirectX 11 support before release. DX11 will, of course, let the game offer even greater graphics and visual effects such as more realistic water, crowds with higher detail and a much better depth of field simulation. DiRT 2 is expected to release this November.

“While the console editions of Colin McRae: DiRT 2 will retain their September ship date, we believe that the DirectX 11 feature set is too compelling to ignore, especially considering how much more it can add to the visual experience for PC gamers,” – Bryan Marhall

From the looks of things, it seems that Valve is actually trying to please those nearly 38,000 gamers that are upset about the announcement of Left 4 Dead 2. Valve is currently working to get cross-gameplay between L4D1 and L4D2.

“That’s something that we’re trying to work out the details of right now. So nothing specific to say today, but we understand that it’s a very valid thing to be working on and looking at.” –Doug Lombardi

Valve is also planning to have cross-game mod support. According to Valve, any mods that have been made for L4D1 will work in L4D2 flawlessly.

With another bit of L4D2 news, Valve has announced that they are doing the same with L4D2 as they did with L4D1. For those that pre-order the game, there will be a pre-release demo for PC and Xbox 360 that features multiplayer. No details yet on how early this demo will release.

According to Techland (developer), there are three pieces of DLC coming for Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood. The first two are set to feature new multiplayer maps, while the third is planned for some new content/gameplay for single player. Details are still very slim at this point, but the DLC is set to release for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. Prices and dates are still unknown
