cpu-in-hand

A new light technology, called a Spaser, has surfaced allowing for ultra-fast processors to be seen in the not so distant future. This new technology is similar to a laser but instead of photons it uses plasmons, which are only 44 nanometers across. This has opened the door to optical CPU’s small enough to use in consumer electronics. While there are optical CPUs in the world right now, none of them come even close to the size needed to be used in small electronics because they use lasers which cannot be miniaturized due to a photon’s physical size. Plasmons however, can concentrate these nano-particles in spaces similar to current consumer devices with speeds of 100 Terahertz.

Facebook for iPhone OS 3.0 Coming Soon

Many avid Facebook and iPhone users, such as myself, have been eagerly awaiting the release of the new Facebook for the iPhone/Touch, which is rumored to support features such as Push Notification, as well as (hopefully) landscape mode.

Facebook for iPhone 3.0 has been sent to Apple for review. More details and screen shots are coming this week…

According to the screenshot that the Facebook team recently released, it appears that the Push Notification will be in full force, as well as an overhauled/streamlined system of categorizing everything. Hope it’s as solid as it looks, but only time will tell. Stay tuned.

This looks might promising although I’m not sure why Apple made it resemble a 1st gen iPod Touch. Nonetheless, we now have a much better idea of what the tablet might actually look like and we get a glimpse of the welcome screen, double whammy! What do you think?

Next Gen iPod Touch Caught on Film

ipod-touch-camera

A part of me is skeptical about the legitimacy of this vid. I mean, we all know that the next gen iPod Touch will have a camera, but this kid could’ve modded up his 2nd gen Touch with an iPhone camera for all I know. If it is the real deal, how in the hell did this guy get a hold of one? He must have had it for awhile, considering all the scratches. See for yourself after the break.

Apple Planning Keynote Speech in September

apple-touchscreen

As everything always is with Apple, there is speculation over a possible keynote speech that is supposedly going to take place on the week of September 7th. Things that may be on the agenda include the Apple Tablet, a revised iPod Touch with a camera, possible iPhone partnership with Verizon (let’s not hold our breath for that one) and iTunes 9.

Rumors about what iTunes 9 will bring to the table include Blu-ray support and social media integration such as Facebook and Twitter. As an added bonus, Steve Jobs is said to be speaking at the keynote. While none of this is stone cold fact, I would say Apple is definitely up to something and we will just have to wait until September to find out what.

Weekly Poll: Right or Left Handed?

rightlefthanded

Tech Olive’s Weekly Poll is a new feature that will come to you every Friday and ask a random question about technology, gaming or anything random, depending on our mood.

This week’s question: Are you right or left handed? It’s been a long fought out argument to see who is better with the mouse and keyboard when it comes to gaming, right handers or left handers. Obviously the majority of us are right handed, but the few and the proud stand tall. Vote and Discuss!
