behe

The Behemoth, developers most recently known for the wildly successful Xbox Live Arcade (and soon PSN) game Castle Crashers, have released a new gameplay video of their newest project. Dubbed Game #3 (obviously a temporary title), the game looks to be another side-scrolling game with the same fantastic art style as we’ve grown to love from Castle Crashers. Follow the break for the video.

The boys in the dev team behind TF2 have done it again. Just announced is the newest update for TF2. Dubbed the “Classless Update“, it adds 18 hats for you to find and customize your classes with as well as a new map, Offblast, to model your fine new hat on. Remember, this is only “Day 1″ so there’s plenty more to look forward to. I really should start playing this game again.

Xbox Live Update Launches Today

xbox-live

Today, Microsoft launched a new Xbox LIVE dashboard update that includes a slew of good stuff, but some of the newer features, such as Games on Demand won’t be available until Thursday (Aug. 13). The new update also includes new avatar features and a few new Netflix tweaks, as well as Netflix exclusivity, which means Netflix won’t be on the PS3 or the Wii anytime soon.

Microsoft is also working on integration for Twitter, Facebook, Last.fm and Zune Video, which are slated for release later this Fall.

You can read the full list of updates at Xbox.com.

DIY: Photography Booth

top

I love to see pictures that others have taken, be it of a portrait or just an object. It’s sad however, to see this beautiful shot ruined because of a spare sock in the background or incorrect lighting. We can eliminate both of these problems with a quick and easy photo booth. You can spend hundreds of dollars on photo paper, reflection glass and prop boxes or you can easily find them around your house – a white bed spread, 5-inch square piece of plexan, and cardboard!

Section 8 Headed to Open Beta

section

Section 8, an upcoming futuristic MMO-FPS, is ending its closed beta term this August 9th. Soon thereafter, the open beta is planned to start. I’ve found it hard to get excited about this game. After trying Parabellum and CrimeCraft betas, I’m starting to lose hope in the MMO-FPS genres. Perhaps they’re not for me, but I am willing to give Section 8 a try when it hits open beta. Has anyone else noticed that the term “Section 8″ was used in WWII when referring to a “discharge from the United States military for reason of being mentally unfit for service.”? Maybe that’s just me…

mw2

According to a Tweet by Robert Bowling (IW’s community manager), it seems that the cancellation of Hardened Edition may just be “some miscommunication from District“. The full quote is as follows:

I’m [at] @gamestopcorp in The Oaks listening to a [manager] tell a customer we may cancel the Hardened edition (false). Time to be creepy & intervene!

Though this is hardly official word denying a canceled Hardened Edition, but it’s certainly something for us PC gamers to hold onto, hoping for anything other than the bare standard release of MW2.

vizio-vbr100

Vizio has just released their own Blu-ray player exclusively at Walmart, priced at $178. The VBR100, as it’s called, includes a 7.1 analog audio output, digital audio through optical and coaxial, and BD-Live ready. While most new Blu-ray players now are including features such as Netflix streaming, this model is barebones including only the essentials to play Blu-ray discs. This Vizio model also lacks an HDMI cable in the box. Although this model is a Walmart-exclusive, you can look forward to seeing a VBD110 sold at various retailers later on.

If you’re absolutely dying to know more about this new player from Vizio, you can see a video unboxing after the break.

TDKlogo

It’s been a little while since we’ve heard anything big from TDK, and no we’re not talking about the Call of Duty gaming clan; an understandable, but inexcusable mistake. The storage company says that a 3.5-inch 2.5TB drive is currently in the testing phase with mass production starting this November and an official release date of late January or early February of next year. TDK says they’re working with an all new 640GB platter, which outdoes Seagate’s and WD’s current 500GB platters.

TDK is also looking into a new 320GB platter for 2.5-inch drives, which will result in 640GB notebook drives around the same time next year, but we all know that Seagate’s got them beat on that one.
