Australian Rating Board Adding New Rating?

Honestly, how old does a Kangaroo have to be?!

By now, everyone’s heard at least something about the strict rating issues in Australia brought on by the lack of a rating above MA15+, which has resulted in many games being censored before they can release or in some cases, banned all together, most recently being Left 4 Dead 2. It seems that there is hope for the Australian gamers because Valve and EA Games are pushing to have a new rating added. For Australia to instate an MA18+ rating for video games, the country’s Attorney Generals must all agree on the subject. It seems that they are all for adding the new rating, except for one attorney, Michael Atkinson, who is still undecided on the matter and had the following to say on the subject.

It certainly does restrict choice to a small degree, but that is the price of keeping this material from children and vulnerable adults. In my view, the small sacrifice is worth it.
