Best Buy Stores Coming to the UK

Best Buy makes the Best Decision!

America’s super-super-super store Best Buy has announced they will be opening stores and starting online trading in the UK starting in 2010. They have stores in Asia, Canada, Europe and of course in the US, but have never decided to set up shop in the UK until now. They’re going to have to combat the current UK giant Dixons who also own PC World, Curry’s and other such big electronic retailers, but I think they stand a good chance of getting a foothold in the here in the UK.

This should be a great relief on the current recession in the UK. More stores means more jobs for people.

Mozilla Fennec Coming to Android

fennec

If you didn’t already know, Fennec is the mobile version of Firefox and it’s been announced by the CEO of Mozilla that it’s coming to Android and will be based off of Firefox 3.6. Fennec will utilize the AwesomeBar as well as add-ons, which will definitely give other mobile browsers a challenge. Besides Android, Fennec will soon come to Nokia’s Maemo OS. No word on when exactly Mozilla’s mobile browser will be released.

barnes-and-noble-nook

On top of all the eBook reader crazes going on recently, Barnes and Noble decided to jump in on the fun by announcing the Nook. It’s got a 6-inch screen, 3G and WiFi capabilities, 2GB of storage, an SD card slot, and it will be running Android. Some downsides? For now the WiFi will only work on B&N WiFi networks and the 3G only works on AT&Ts network. Also, the in-store book browsing only streams books, but doesn’t download books (I’m sure people will find a way around that). The Nook will arrive in November at a cost of $260.

Review: Logitech Anywhere Mouse MX

mouse0

Logitech’s newest line of wireless mice confused me a bit. As they stand, their older Revolution line is fantastic. Sure, this new generation would feature Logitech’s new Dark Field and Unifying technology, but was that enough to garner a small redesign, re-release and more importantly, a new price tag? It’s time to find out.

Online petition gets an answer from Infinity Ward

After only two days since we posted about it, the Online Dedicated Servers Petition for Modern Warfare 2 has gone up to 110,553 members (as of this post) and it must be finally getting through to Infinity Ward because they have answered the 110,500+ signatures. They mentioned that they received loads of complaints from players saying the PC community was far too isolated in their own clans and private servers, leaving them in between servers with no one to play with. Matchmaking will fix this. I don’t know about you but I have at least ten favorite, fully public servers that constantly have between 8-40 people on them at all times. Where’s the isolation in that? For all the details, check out the article with all the juicy quotes here.

Mini Review: Eufloria

Eufloria
We first saw Eufloria on the Steam store home page and its unique design caught our attention straight off the bat. So, we decided that a game that looks this pretty and this unique deserved looking into. The gameplay is very similar to that of Galcon, you start off with one or two asteroids from which you grow seedlings. You use these seedlings to grow more plants on the asteroid you are on or go explore other asteroids to populate in a sort of mix on the RTS genre.

40 Hour GTA IV Marathon Breaks Record

How would you like to be the Guinness official observer? Sitting there for 40 hours waiting your turn with the controller, and never getting it.

After 40 hours of GTA IV, Chirantan Patnaik has fought (and stole) his way into the record books with the longest GTA IV marathon. With the previous record set at 28 hours and one minute, the 40 hour and 20 minute marathon eclipses the previous record and more than earns its spot in the Guinness Book of World Records. It’s important to note that, according to rules, Chirantan had to take a 10 minute break every hour. I think it’s safe to say that whatever platform he played on was sealed in a refrigerator for the duration of the gaming.

1 out of every 5 Special Operations soldiers can't swim. True story. Thank God there's only 4 in this boat...perhaps the 5th already fell out...

Gamestop has released a new promo video for a Modern Warfare 2 giveaway on another site, but that’s not what we’re interested in. What we are interested in is the actual footage from the video. It gives an interesting look into one of the multiplayer maps we should expect to see in the final release of the game, as well as how the multiplayer looks. Join us after the break to view the clip.
