Canon Announces EOS 1D Mk IV

canon-1d-mk-iv

The Imaging Resource released some details from Canon regarding the next generation of their pro-level 1D series, the Mk IV. According to the article it will feature a 16.1 MP sensor, twin DIGIC 4 processors as well as 1080p HD video (similar to the 7D). The 1D Mk IV excels in the area of burst shooting, with an astounding 10 frames per second. The release also mentions an extended ISO range to 102,400, which I’m sure is way too high for most of us, but still insane. The camera will be released sometime in December, and the body-only price is expected to be about $4,999, but no guarantees.

Rock Band for iPhone Gets Hands On

iphone_rockband

If you play Rock Band on a regular basis and love it so much that you might consider getting the portable version for the iPhone, you might want to check out the hands on that the players at Gizmodo put together. It seems like a decent game to keep you busy, but might be hard on your hands after a prolonged amount of time. The gameplay is almost identical to the actual console game except for singing, which you don’t really sing in the iPhone version, but rather tap buttons to “sing.” Check out the complete hands on in the source link below.

Bioshock 2, Footage, GTTV, Exclusive

According to Geoff Keighly’s Twitter banter, GTTV’s Thursday (Oct. 22) episode will have a large special feature based around Bioshock 2. I’d imagine this will be on the same scale as the MW2 special they recently had.

Huge BioShock 2 episode of GTTV coming on Thursday. Lots of new single player info and footage! You’ll meet new characters too….

Seagate 1TB FreeAgent Go Unboxing

freeagent-go-1tb

Seagate recently released a slew of new products including a 1TB FreeAgent Go. We finally got our hands on it and as always, unboxed it for the geeks of the world to watch.

Nothing special about this higher capacity drive except it’s a little thicker and heavier, which possibly might affect its portability, but we’ll have to wait and see until the review. Watch the unboxing video after the break.

Dell Adamo XPS Coming October 22nd

dell-adamo-xps

On the day that Windows 7 hits the store shelves, Dell will be releasing their ultra-thin laptop known as the Adamo XPS. The 0.39-inch laptop will cost $2,000 and will feature a “heat-sensing strip on the lip that, when swiped with a finger, glows white and automatically opens the aluminum lid.” Details are pretty scarce at this point, but we hop to see more within the next few days.

What did PC gamers do to lose the respect of everyone except Valve and indie developers?

The Modern Warfare 2-themed Xbox 360 seems to have gotten a release date as Amazon’s listing of the product shows a November 10, 2009 release date. While there has been no official word about this, it’s unsurprising that its launch is set right along side the game it’s themed after.

I propose two versions: 1) A version for children that includes matchmaking. 2) A version for people that know how to connect to a server and click their mouse button.

In a series of shocking choices by Infinity Ward, it seems they have effectively killed most of the MW2‘s online appeal. In short, there will be no dedicated servers for the game. This is to allow for matchmaking so that people that suck at the game will stop complaining. Also, the game is now exclusively a Steam game. On top of that, you’ll have to run IWNet, Infinity Ward’s matchmaking software. Could they not just build it into the game? Instead, we have to run several outside programs for their game to work.

Also, gamers have started a petition to include dedicated servers with the release of MW2. You can view, read and sign the petition here.

Dell Confirms Smartphone, Coming in 2010

Dell logo

Today at FiReGlobal, Dell CEO Michael Dell confirmed that the company would be releasing their own smartphone in 2010. Details are slim at this point, but the Android platform is a possibility as well as AT&T as a carrier. Dell also said that they’re staying open at this point about features and they’ll have to see how the market plays out. More specifically watching what Windows Mobile 7 will do.
