Download Google Chrome OS

google-chrome-os

This is pretty cool. Social technology site Gdgt has made Google Chrome OS available to anyone that has an account there and if you don’t already have an account, you can easily make one for free. You’ll need VMWare though to run the new OS. If you’ve been wanting to play with Chrome OS for awhile now, this is your chance!

Mac OS X 10.6.2 Hacked for Atom Support

osx-atom-hack

No surprise here, but a user over at the InsanelyMac forums created a hack for Mac OS X 10.6.2 to allow support for Intel Atom processors. However, the hack isn’t a simple .exe patch you install. It’s actually an entire replacement kernel for OS X, which could be quite risky if you’re not sure what you’re doing, but it seems a lot of hackintoshers are happy with it.

The potential for awesome sound effects in this game is exciting.

There'd better be more airplane missions in future games.

According to an article by the LA Times, Activision has added a third name to Treyarch and Infinity Ward’s world. Does this mean we’ll see three Call of Duty titles every two years? Perhaps this new developer will focus only on mobile or console ports of the games.

“Although Infinity Ward and Treyarch have produced sequels in alternating years since 2005, the publisher now has a third development house working on future versions.”

There are also talks of making the Call of Duty series into an MMO or paid-subscription online game of some manner. Perhaps that will be the new developer’s job? At this point, we can only speculate. We’ll keep you updated as details become known.

Google Chrome OS Unveiled!

google-chrome-os

Google held a low-key, special event today to unveil their new and anticipated Chrome OS, which was announced back in July. It’s based off of Linux and the Chrome internet browser. Details are still pretty scarce and the OS itself is still in its alpha stages. The final release won’t be available until late next year.

Something note-worthy is the fact that Chrome OS shouldn’t be used as a primary OS. It won’t have a lot of support for drivers. For example, the OS won’t work with standard hard drives, only SSDs, but both x86 and ARM CPUs will be supported. Also, you won’t be able to just download Chrome OS and have at it, you’ll have to buy a Chrome OS device approved by Google. The OS is completely open source so expect some serious hacking to ensue.

Catch us after the break for a video about the new Chrome OS.

asus-eee-1201n

We told you about the 1201N back in September. Well, now it’s been officially announced by Asus. The base config sports a dual core Atom 330 processor, 2GB of DDR2 RAM, 250GB HDD, nVidia Ion graphics, a 12″ LED display, and a 6-cell battery that’s said to last five hours (we’ll see about that). It also has HDMI-out, which means this baby will pump out 1080p video. To top it all off, Windows 7 comes included. Head on over to Laptop Mag to see a quick hands-on video.

AT&T Fires Back at Verizon With New Ad

at&t-logo

Wow! This battle between AT&T and Verizon is heating up quickly! AT&T eventually sued Verizon for false advertisement over the “There’s a Map for That” commercial (which AT&T eventually lost). Verizon seems to be handling it pretty well and appears laid back towards the whole thing while AT&T keeps scrambling to come up with a new advert to get back at Big Red. Exhibit A: new ad from AT&T. Watch it after the break and let us know what you think.
