The Weekly Olive: 11/2/09 – 11/8/09

The Weekly Olive is a new feature published every Sunday night that recaps the weeks important news and reviews.

Another week is in the books and we had a few interesting things happen. We had several reviews including Razer’s new mobile mouse and our first video review. A lot of Modern Warfare 2 news was announced as well as our upcoming LAN party. A few things about Apple as well. Join us after the break for the week’s rundown.

Review: Razer Orochi
- When it comes to gaming, Razer and Logitech are usually among your first choice for a new mouse, but what if you’re looking for a mobile gaming mouse? Sure, Logitech and many other companies offer wireless gaming mice and laptop mice, but never before has a company been ambitious enough to combine the two for the benefit of the games…until now. Meet the Razer Orochi.

Video Review: Seagate FreeAgent Theater+
- What do ya know, our first video review. We won’t beat around the bush on this one, so watch the vid and get a closer a look at Seagate’s new media player with a small gallery afterward.

Modern Warfare 2 Launch Trailer Released
- That’s right, Infinity Ward has released Modern Warfare 2’s “release trailer” today. Am I the only one that assumed “launch trailer” meant the trailer a developer would release with the game’s launch? Well, at any rate, MW2 is still a few days away (check out our countdown at the top-right of the homepage), but we’re given this small glimpse into what will ultimately eat our days in the near future.

Tech Olive’s Modern Warfare 2 Launch/LAN Party
- That’s right, folks. We’re going to celebrate the release of Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2 by putting on a Launch/LAN party. Why? Because we’re possibly dealing with the game of the year for 2009 and it’s disgusting how big of Call of Duty fans we are here at the Olive.

Mac OS X 10.6.2 Brings Support for Atom CPUs Back
- Just recently we informed you that it was said that Apple would be getting rid of Intel Atom processor support in the upcoming OS X 10.6.2 update. We’ve not heard word that Cupertino is bringing back Atom support. It’s said that it was merely a bug or temporary measure. It’s also worth noting that Apple can turn Atom support on and off with a flick of a switch, so don’t be surprised if they change their minds again.

Editorial: Dear Apple, Your Mouse Sucks
- This is not a lame fanboy rant that you will easily find on any of your local forum websites. I happen to like Apple products, as well as my own PC hardware. I love the iPhone and their computers and software are top notch, no doubt about it. They are probably one of the few companies that have an excellent good to bad product ratio, but I have always had one huge bone to pick with the company; their mouse. Don’t get me wrong, it is a great mouse ergonomically due to it’s symmetrical shape, but other than that, Apple screwed the pooch on this one.
