The Weekly Olive is a new feature published every Sunday night that recaps the weeks important news and reviews.
This week is Modern Warfare 2 Edition of the Weekly Olive. The game released last Tuesday (Nov. 10) and we were there at the midnight launch to catch all the action. We also had our own little LAN party, which we’ll post up photos of it soon. MW2 also shattered sales records and we got to “uncan” a MW2 edition of a Monster energy drink. To top off the crazy week, our MW2 podcast review. Catch up on all the action after the break.
Modern Warfare 2 Officially Released!

Review: Monster Assault Modern Warfare 2 Energy Drink
- Energy drinks and gaming are two things that have gone together perfectly since the dawn of time and maybe even before that. So it only makes sense that the most anticipated game of 2009 be given the honor of its own specially-branded energy drink from Monster, but is the drink up to the standards that the Call of Duty name has set? Let’s find out.
Modern Warfare 2 Shatters Launch Day Sales Record
- According to a press release from Activision, the first 24 hours of Modern Warfare 2’s release in North America and Europe brought in sales of an estimated $310 million, selling 4.7 million copies. These numbers are early estimations from Activision’s experts, but I doubt the game’s sales will be anything less than extraordinary. Imagine how many they would have sold with the inclusion of dedicated servers.
