A company known as Mophie will be unveiling a special kind of iPhone case at CES 2010. It’s a normal iPhone case, but at the bottom you’ll notice a small slot, just thin enough for, let’s say, a credit card to slide right on through. The case/credit card reader will be accompanied with an app that deals with credit card transactions. Great for businesses and maybe a few consumers? This is all the info we have now, but obviously we’ll hear the whole shebang at CES. Stay tuned!

We now know at least one tech company that will appear during the upcoming Super Bowl. Motorola spent around $2.5 to $3 million dollars for their 30 seconds of fame. Most likely it’ll be for their newest device, the Droid, but it’s anyone’s guess really.

battlefield

We all know that it’s the season where many retailers slash prices and try to milk as much money out of your pocket as possible, and Micro$oft is no exception. To follow up their holiday deal offerings, Microsoft is cutting the price of Battlefield 1943 by 50% on Xbox Live on New Year’s Eve. For one day only, the popular downloadable FPS will cost a mere 600 MSP ($7.50 USD). Anyone else holding out for the game’s PC release?

More Nexus One Details Leaked, This is it

nexus-one-landing-page

This has to be the cream of crop right here. This phone is definitely real and will be available to the public (unlike previous speculations of being just a developer phone). The leaked content tells us that Google will be the only seller of the Nexus One and it’ll sell for $530 unlocked and unsubsidized. You can also get the phone for $180 after signing a 2-year contract with T-Mobile. Looks like AT&T is out of the picture on this one, although it’ll probably still work on their network. There’s also going to be just one plan, which is $80/month, but if you still want to keep your cheap plan, you’ll have to pay the unsubsidized price of $530.

Google will sell the phone via http://www.google.com/phone and it will apparently be officially called the Nexus One, not the Google Phone (the Google Phone was a lame name anyway).

Thanks to Engadget, you can view the entire Nexus One Terms of Sale here.

Just like in the rumors about the Nexus One arriving on January 5th, Google has officially announced an Android press conference for that date. Could it be that they’ll be unveiling the Nexus One smartphone then? It’s likely.

A former Seagate employee turned whistle-blower has said that the storage company has stolen hard drive-silencing technology from a group of researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and even destroyed the software blueprints to hide the evidence. This whole dilemma is already a 10-year-old lawsuit, but this statement coming from an ex-Seagate employee could make some headway.

The group of MIT researchers, known as a company called Convolve, have also filed lawsuits against Compaq, as well as Dell, Hitachi and Western Digital for similar technology.

Modern Warfare 2 Earns a New Award

modern-warfare-2

After all the GOTY nominations and wins for MW2, it seemed unlikely that it could win any other “*this* of the Year” award. Well, it seems that the Internet has just one more surprise in store for us gamers. After topping many sales charts for its first few weeks on the market, Modern Warfare 2 has officially become the most pirated game of 2009.

Having been on the market for just over a month, MW2 has been pirated 4.1 million times. This quite a prestigious title that was previously held by none other than The Sims 3, which has amassed a total of 3.2 million illegal downloads since its release last June.
