The Weekly Olive: 12/14/09 – 12/20/09

The biggest story of the week had to be the numerous rumors about the Google Phone. Nothing is official yet, but it seems like it’ll happen one way or the other. Do we think it’s an iPhone killer? Not at all.

We also had a variety of different feature articles this week, including a mini review, an editorial, and also a hints and tips piece. Catch up on all the action after the break.

The Nexus One/Google Phone: Information Roundup
- We’ve already heard a lot about the Google Phone (aka Nexus One) and we’ll probably keep hearing more about it. We’ve decided to roundup all the useful information and images and put them in this one convenient post.

Five Free Apps For Your Netbook
- Netbooks –as convenient as they are– lack a bit in the performance category, but that doesn’t mean you have to settle for less in productivity and overall experience. You can get a lot of power out of these applications without using a whole of juice. The best part? They”re all completely free of charge. Here’s a quick list of the top applications that have proven useful for me during my netbook journey.

Editorial: DPI Isn’t Everything
- Many gamers –even those that don’t possess advanced computing skills or knowledge– think that they understand what DPI is and in all reality, most don’t. They end up treating it as a simple number, where a higher DPI number directly equates to a better mouse. While this is mostly the case, the question is: does it justify the cost of buying a high-DPI gaming mouse to replace your trusty and reliable low-DPI daily driver?

Mini Review: Zombie Driver
- When we first saw Zombie Driver there was a unanimous sigh and we thought, “not another zombie game.” However, we were pleasantly surprised when we found Zombie Driver to be a fresh take on the genre. Definitely a change from the usual zombie shooters being churned out by any developer with a decent shooter engine.
