I decided it was time to install the 328MB, hard drive-eating, Unreal engine-based monstrosity.

Steam Now Has Over 25 Million Users

PC gaming is not even close to being long gone. Valve announced that Steam has over 25 million users now, which is up 25-percent from 2008. Their overall sales were up a whopping 205-percent in 2009, with over 1,000 games to choose from.

“With the introduction of each new platform feature released over the years — such as the Steam Community, Steam Cloud, and Steamworks — we’ve seen corresponding growth in account numbers, concurrent player numbers and developer support for the platform. As such, we plan to continue to expand and grow the platform to better serve the developers supporting the open platform and millions of gamers logging in each day.” — Gabe Newell, Steam CEO

This is quite an accomplishment for Valve and like Newell said, we look forward to Steam’s expansion.

It’ll be releasing March 30th, but we’re still waiting on the price tag. Stay tuned.

In a move that seems to be a growing trend, 2K Games has announced that there will be no LAN or Dedicated Servers for Bioshock 2. In their defense, it’s all down to development time constraints.

“We chose to spend the time we had creating a solid game foundation and unfortunately that did not include LAN play or dedicated servers.”

Then again, I still feel that Bioshock isn’t the kind of game that needs multiplayer anyway. Let’s hear your thoughts.
