More Asus Eee PC 1001PX Details Emerge

Last week we told you about Asus’ carbon fiber Eee PC 1001PX and we’re here with a bit more details.

Asus now has the product page up and running and we’re also hearing that the Windows 7 model will cost $299 (not $406 like we originally reported) and the Windows XP model will be $279 (not $326). We’re also told this carbon fiber beauty will arrive in the U.S. in May and feature a matte display, unlike most of Asus’ netbooks, which have glossy displays.

Darksiders Coming to PC This June

Darksiders, THQ’s latest action-adventure title based on the horsemen of the apocalypse (and noted for its vast similarities to Zelda titles), has been announced for release on PC this June. From the press release, Vigil Games seems dedicated to avoid a direct port from PS3/Xbox 360, but instead they are working to make it a quality experience for PC gamers.

“We are delighted to be able to bring Darksiders to the PC. THQ is focused on bringing great product to the PC gaming audience so it was vital that we allowed Vigil the time to optimize the title for the PC platform. We hope PC gamers experience the same thrill and get the same level of satisfaction assuming the mantle of WAR as the console audience did.”“We are really excited to have the opportunity to bring Darksiders to the global PC audience. We feel that the growth of digital distribution and PC online communities creates a great environment for our game. We are working really hard to make sure that key features such as user-defined resolutions, interface and both keyboard and game pad control sets are all up to the standards for today’s discerning PC consumer.” David Adams, General Manager of Vigil Games

Today, AMD announced the Radeon HD 5870 Eyefinity 6 Edition video card. This monster sports 2GB of GDDR5 memory and has the ability to put a picture on six monitors thanks to six mini DisplayPorts. Obviously, the market for six-monitor displays is extremely small, but the guys over at HotHardware say that if you have the $500 it takes to buy the card and then some for the monitor setup, “you won’t be disappointed.” Skip on over to their website, where they have a thorough review of the card along with some videos of the six-monitor setup playing games like L4D2 and HAWX.

Retro Review: Alien Carnage

For this month’s Retro Review, I decided to review one of the many games from my past that I wish I had played more. Unfortunately, I only ever had the small, demo-like “shareware” version of Alien Carnage (Originally released as Halloween Harry) and if that wasn’t enough, the game’s mechanics were always a bit hard for me to grasp in my early years. Here I am to finish the job.

Epic Vid of the Week: Man With the Gun

Epic Vid of the Week is a new weekly series that showcases an awesome video that we or our readers discover. Some you may have seen before and others you may have not. If you’ve discovered any videos that are worthy of an Epic Vid of the Week title, let us know!

Let’s be truly honest, we all want to be the man with the gun in video games. This song by the Denmark-based, Commodore 64 tribute band Press Play On Tape is all about that. Plus, it’s really good and insanely catchy.

After a day of rumors that started with the ESRB posting ratings for the PC release of Burn Zombie Burn, we finally have a confirmation that the previously PSN-exclusive action adventure zombie survival title will be coming to PC through Steam. Unfortunately, we were only given a vague release date stating that it should be coming in the next few months. Also, according to the development studio head, they’re hoping to bring the DLC from PS3 to PC as well.

Right after Toshiba announced their 750GB standard-form laptop drive, Western Digital is hot on their heels to ship out their own version. Using only two platters at 375GB each, the 750GB Scorpio Blue is the company’s highest-capacity drive at this form factor. And it’s shipping now for $150.

What’s better than a netbook? Well…a lot of things are, but in this case the answer is a netbook/tablet combo! The Asus Eee PC T101MT is a netbook that can transform into a tablet. It has a 10.1-inch multitouch, capacitive resistive touchscreen display along with an Atom N450, GMA 3150 graphics, 2GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth, a 0.3MP webcam, 3 USB ports, an SDHC card reader, a 6-hour battery life, and Windows 7 Home Premium. There also looks to be another version with half the RAM and hard drive storage with Windows 7 Starter.

The T101MT has already been available in Europe since February, but they will arrive in the States early next month with a price tag of $499, which, strangely enough, is the same price as the iPad. It’s unclear which version will sport the $499 price tag though. So, the ultimate question is: The Asus Eee T101MT or the Apple iPad? Shout it out.
