Valve Releases Cryptic Portal Update
By Tim Hage on Mar 1st, 2010 at 8:52PM

Looking through the news releases, one will find an update for Portal with the description simply reading “Changed radio transmission frequency to comply with federal and state spectrum management regulations.” In the hours since the news release, Valve’s community has gone crazy looking into this mysterious update. On the surface, it seems to only add some new noises to Portal‘s in-game radio and a new Steam achievement, but it is much more than that…
The in-game radio’s new sounds, on the surface, seem like harmless static patterns. However, throw Steam’s genius-filled community at it and you get Morse code messages and images. It is seriously mind-blowing how much information that has been deduced so far, and only more is to come. Currently, there are still no concrete theories as to why Valve has tortured us with these mind-melting puzzles. They could turn out to be absolutely nothing or they could be the announcement for Portal 2 and/or Half-life 3.
We’ll try to keep you posted, and if want to join in on the code-breaking yourself, head over to the Steam forums.

People, almost all the pictures have numbers and letters, and Dino 19 has a format. Do they both fit? Does that mean something?
