Plain and simple, Dropbox is a freeware application that automatically syncs files over the internet and also to any computers that you own. This is a dream if you have multiple computers in your household or if you share files constantly with your friends. The one thing that makes Dropbox unique from a lot of other syncing and sharing services is the ability to simply drag and drop files into the Dropbox folder on your computer and have them instantly be available to any computer that you give permission to. Any file that you put inside the Dropbox folder will automatically be synced and monitored for changes, so each time a change is saved, it backs up and syncs the file again. Best of all, it works with Windows, Mac, and Linux, so you can share files easily across different OSes. They also have an iPhone app available for free as well.

In this quick tutorial, I’ll show you how to get started using this extremely simple application and what features are the most useful.

Mini Review: Snake Worlds

When I first read about Snake Worlds, it was a very intriguing idea: A simplistic remake of the original Snake game, but with a nice 3D twist and a spherical gameplay world. It was time to see how this modern remake of a classic game fares in today’s gaming world.

Over 10% of PCs are Running Windows 7

Yesterday was the six month anniversary of Windows 7 and Microsoft has sold more than 100 million licenses of the new OS. According to the company’s Windows Team Blog, that’s more than 10% of all PCs in the entire world.

It makes sense that so many users are quickly making the switch. Thanks to the beta program and Release Candidates, Microsoft rebounded from Vista and made a more solid OS.

It comes at no surprise that other ex-Infinity Ward members would join West and Zampella at their newly formed studio, Respawn Entertainment. According to Game Informer, previous Infinity Ward workers Mackey McCandlish, Jon Shiring, Todd Alderman, Rayme Vinson, Chris Cherubini, Mark Grisby and John Paul Messerly have all joined Respawn with their same job titles as they previously held with Infinity Ward.

It’s exciting to see what the awesome team behind the Modern Warfare titles will create under their new employment at Respawn. Here’s hoping they don’t go console exclusive.

This weekend’s special deal over at Steam is two-parts awesomeness. For starters, they’ve got Left 4 Dead 2 for 33% off in honor of the just-released (free!) DLC. As if that’s not awesome enough, they’ve also cut the price of CoD4 by 50%. So, if you don’t already have the games, grab L4D2 for $20.09 and answer the call by purchasing CoD4 for $14.99. Deals will be running until Monday the 26th.

Review: Beat Hazard

Always a sucker for a good indie game, I had to give Beat Hazard a try. Not only because of its indie roots, but also because it takes a lot of inspiration from Audiosurf‘s winning recipe. Between epileptic seizures of my own, I decided to write a quick review on the game.

Beat Hazard is a top-down, classic arcade-style, space shoot-em-up game with a twist: The levels are created around the music that you choose, just like Audiosurf. This concept alone is enough to make the game endlessly replayable.

According to the LA Times, Hulu will launch ‘Hulu Plus,’ a $10/month subscription service that will offer additional episodes of TV shows beyond the five most recent episodes. The free Hulu that we all know and love will still be with us, but starting as early as late May, we’ll see Hulu Plus start to show up in select markets for testing. As far as any more details, that’s all we know.

Personally, until they get all of my favorite TV shows on Hulu, I won’t be paying the $10. And where is this Hulu iPhone app?

Spring Cleaning Your PC: Part II

If you haven’t read Part I of our two-part Spring Cleaning series, read it here.

So, you’re finally tired of your PC gasping for fresh air and you also want to start charging rent to those spiders that have built their webs running from your GPU to your RAM. No problem.
