- After the cancellation of Valve’s special Portal 2 E3 2010 event, everyone jumped to the conclusion that Half-Life 2: Episode 3 would now be Valve’s main focus at the event, but after fans and members of the press spammed Gabe Newell’s inbox, he finally replied with the following: “It isn’t ep 3.”

Trine developers Frozenbyte have confirmed that Trine 2 is coming. After a fan commented on the developer’s community forums that Frozenbyte will reveal Trine 2 at E3 this year, their community forum admin had the following to say:

Yes [confirming that Trine's sequel is coming]. And before anyone asks, it will come to PC in addition to any other platforms. That’s all we can say right now.

And we’re very happy too.”

Review: Ballys Modern Warfare 2 Skully

With the legendary launch of Modern Warfare 2 back in November, it’s no surprise that the award-winning game spawned many themed products, gaming related and otherwise. Recently, we reviewed the MW2-themed peripherals from Mad Catz, but now it’s time to go a bit more visual.

When we first stumbled across these Ghost-themed balaclavas, we decided it was time to retire our ninja masks and pirate eye-patches (yes, we wore them under our ninja masks, wanna fight about it?) for a more theme-appropriate, facially-obscuring item. A few emails later, we’ve got our faces in one of these awesome masks and we’re here to tell all.

Because of the huge success of Rockstar’s wild west action shooter, Red Dead Redemption, it’s no surprise that PC gamers want to join in on the fun. Rockstar recently released a Red Dead Redemption animated screensaver on their website, but according to the comments, most gamers aren’t amused. Many thought it was cheap of Rockstar to use the PC to publicize their new game, yet neglect to release it on the platform. Rockstar responded with this vague message:

“As of now, there are no current plans to bring Red Dead Redemption to the PC platform. If that should change, we will let you know.”

Even though we won’t see it on the PC anytime soon, it sounds like it may be coming eventually.

Get ready, folks. Our monthly OliveCast will be back this weekend, and we actually have some very interesting things to talk about. We’ll be discussing what Tim and I have been up to since the last OliveCast, as well as recapping some news from the past couple weeks. Then, we’ll wrap up with what should hopefully be an interesting discussion on what we could expect at E3 2010.

We don’t know exactly when we’ll be posting up the new OliveCast for your hearing pleasure, but we promise it will be up before Saturday gets done with. Stay tuned!

So, Team Fortress 2 has finally hit Mac. Why should PC gamers care? Two words: Free. Weekend. Valve is offering a TF2 free weekend and a 50% off sale for the duration of the weekend. And if that’s not enough, get yourself a free set of in-game earbuds by playing on a Mac during the launch weekend.

If you’re still looking for something to tickle your fancy, then look no further! Steam is also celebrating a “Bethesda Weekend.” What does that mean for you? Awesome discounts on Fallout 3 ($24.99), The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion ($8.50), and The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind ($5.00).

Thankfully, Obsidian opted to avoid the terrible Games for Windows Live integration that we saw in Fallout 3. This time around, Fallout: New Vegas‘ PC release will be managed by Steam and as a result, the game will make full use of Steamworks and Steam’s ease of DRM delivery. We have also been assured that modding will remain as accessible as previous Fallout titles.

Moving to more informational nuggets. Four different pre-order equipment packs have been announced. While these pre-order bonuses don’t offer any real swag (you’ll have to grab the Collector’s Edition for that), they still offer a nice, in-game equipment upgrade to get you started in the rough and cut-throat wasteland. Hit the break for a complete list of goodies.
