Gamestop Leaks Portal 2 Release Date?

In the wake of Portal 2‘s latest delay, we were left with nothing but a vague “2011″ release date to look forward to. Thanks to Gamestop’s store listing, we just might have a new release date for Portal 2. While there has been no official word from Valve, Gamestop seems fairly confident that Portal 2 pre-orders will ship out on March 31st, 2011.

Happy Birthday to Craig!

Today marks day number 7,670 (that’s 21 years for normal people) on Earth for Tech Olive’s Editor-in-Chief. In that time, many beards have been grown, sheared and re-grown. Many hobbies have come and gone, and countless hours of CoD 4 and pillow-fort sleepovers have taken place. And, of course, most notable in Craig’s history was the day he gave sweet, sweet birth to the wonder known as Tech Olive. (seriously, you should check that place out!)

At any rate, leave Craig some birthday wishes in the comments and if you’re expecting some awesome article from him to mark this occasion, don’t get your hopes up. See, with this being his 21st, the only way his eyes will be able to tolerate light for the next 48 hours would be through at least three pairs of sunglasses.

Exactly 18 months after the original Tom Clancy’s HAWX was released is when the sequel will hit store (and digital) shelves. Big Download is reporting that Ubisoft PR reps have said that Tom Clancy’s HAWX 2 will be arriving September 7th. This also happens to be the same day that Ubisoft’s RTS title R.U.S.E will be released.

Although there’s a little trouble locating a pre-order for the PC version of HAWX 2 on retail websites, Ubisoft PR reps have said that the PC version will be released to retail stores, as well as digital download services.

Epic Vid of the Week: Lightning

Epic Vid of the Week is a weekly series that showcases an awesome video that we or our readers discover. Some you may have seen before and others you may have not. If you’ve discovered any videos that are worthy of an Epic Vid of the Week title, let us know!

Ahh, the beauty of nature. Ahh, the beauty of high FPS footage. When both are combined, it can make for some pretty awesome stuff. Take the video below for example, lightning bolts striking the Earth in super slo-mo. The first few seconds are quite beautiful.

From the makers of the popular Cruzer U3 flash drives, the Cruzer Blade is SanDisk’s newest and smallest creation. It’s so small, in fact, that the company says it’s “about the size of a standard paper clip and weighs about the same as a U.S. penny (2.5 grams).” The new flash drives come in sizes of 2GB all the way up to 16GB and range from $15 to $78 in price.

Over the past two weeks, Valve’s anti-cheat (VAC) system interpreted around 12,000 gamers as having a hacked copy of Modern Warfare 2 when, in fact, their copies of the game were completely legitimate. Valve has acknowledged their error and more than made up for it by reactivating the banned Modern Warfare 2 games, as well as giving the affected gamers two free copies of Left 4 Dead 2 (one for them, and one guest pass for a friend) as an apology.

“The problem was that Steam would fail a signature check between the disk version of a DLL and a latent memory version. Steam allows us to manage and reverse these erroneous bans (about 12,000 erroneous bans over two weeks). This was our mistake, and I apologize for any frustration or angst it may have caused you.” — Gabe Newell, Valve’s President

Not to be one left behind in the RAM race, G.Skill has just released details on a colossal 48GB DDR3 RAM kit. This isn’t just your run-in-the-park 48GB RAM kit either. G.Skill says that this is the world’s first and “only hand-picked, hand-tested, ultra-high capacity DDR3 memory kit for workstations.” The kit comes with twelve 4GB sticks clocked at 1900MHz, and features the company’s Ripjaws series heatsink.

Want to hear the sad news? This kit isn’t meant for everyday home users. Plus, it was designed exclusively for EVGA’s Super Record 2 (SR-2) motherboard and will obviously only work on motherboards with twelve memory slots, which are few and far between.

Price is still yet to be known, but the kit is expected to arrive next month.
