The Weekly Olive: 7/26/10 – 8/1/10

The past week’s best news and featured content…

The Bargain Bin: Alien Swarm
- This week, The Bargain Bin offers you its greatest deal yet. Picture a fantastic co-op shooter game that pits up to four space marines against countless hordes of deadly aliens. If it’s sounding a bit like Left 4 Dead, then you’d be on the right track because this game was originally created by some of the minds behind the Left 4 Dead series.

Valve Wrongfully Bans Over 10,000 Modern Warfare 2 Gamers
- Over the past two weeks, Valve’s anti-cheat (VAC) system interpreted around 12,000 gamers as having a hacked copy of Modern Warfare 2 when, in fact, their copies of the game were completely legitimate. Valve has acknowledged their error and more than made up for it by reactivating the banned Modern Warfare 2 games, as well as giving the affected gamers two free copies of Left 4 Dead 2 (one for them, and one guest pass for a friend) as an apology.

Tom Clancy’s HAWX 2 Coming September 7th
- Exactly 18 months after the original Tom Clancy’s HAWX was released is when the sequel will hit store (and digital) shelves. Big Download is reporting that Ubisoft PR reps have said that Tom Clancy’s HAWX 2 will be arriving September 7th.

Happy Birthday to Craig!
- Today marks day number 7,670 (that’s 21 years for normal people) on Earth for Tech Olive’s Editor-in-Chief. In that time, many beards have been grown, sheared and re-grown. Many hobbies have come and gone, and countless hours of CoD 4 and pillow-fort sleepovers have taken place. And, of course, most notable in Craig’s history was the day he gave sweet, sweet birth to the wonder known as Tech Olive. (seriously, you should check that place out!)

Retro Review: USB 1.1
- One port that rules them all! USB is the most widely used port in existence, so it only makes sense to honor the great history of the early days of USB in this month’s Retro Review.
