I Could Eat: Reese’s Fast Break

BOOM! New feature, everybody! You may be asking, “why don’t you have a life?”, but that’s irrelevant. So instead, the question I’ll answer here is, “why do you waste your awesome skills on writing for us peasants?” Well, fair readers, I’ve found that Tech Olive is the perfect excuse to avoid any social situation by simply saying, “sorry, I’ve got writing to do.” This simply translates to, ”that party sounds like crap. I’d rather stay home and frag people online.”

Where am I going with this? Well, I was sitting in front of my PC the other day wondering how I could make my life more awesome as I took another bite of whatever sugary substance my hand was grasping. Then it hit me! If I write about food, then I’ve got solid excuses to play video games and eat snacks. Needless to say, “I Could Eat” was born.

And here we have it, our first I Could Eat feature (ICE for short. Further proof that these articles are awesome). This is the Reese’s Fast Break candy bar. And if you’re wondering, I had to eat six bars before I got that perfect bite you see above. We suffer for our craft.

The Fast Break is a chocolate-covered, peanut butter-filled chewy nougat that’s unlike any other candy bar experience you’ll ever have. Well, truth be told, it’s a bit like a Milky Way with peanut butter instead of caramel.

The first thing you might notice is that I went all out and got the Collector’s Edition King Size Fast Break. Why? Because I’m a king of course. It’s as simple as that.

During-Gaming Edibility

Due to its chocolate-coated nature, the Fast Break will do its best to corrode your fingers, and as any gamer knows, this is a terrible inconvenience no matter the genre of game  you may be playing or the platform you may be playing it on. So while the Fast Break is only edible during down time or while enjoying a movie, it’s still well worth taking the time out of gaming to eat.

How to Eat It

Your Fast Break should be eaten in a slightly chilled environment if possible, somewhere between 50-67 degrees fahrenheit before and during consumption (refrigeration of the bar beforehand is advised). Fall/Winter is undeniably the best time of year to enjoy a Fast Break.

**NOTE: Much like socks, 45-60 minutes in the refrigerator is enough to breathe new life into a dying and gooey lump of a Fast Break, but whatever you do, DO NOT attempt to freeze your Fast Break as this will only result in a tooth-shattering brick.

Drink With

I find that the Fast Break goes exceptionally well with the Fruit Punch variation of the Gatorade sports drink, but it should go great with any sharp, fruity-flavored beverage (soda, juice, etc.). Sprite is not recommended to pair with a Fast Break due to it being too sweet and not providing the necessary contrast in flavor. And, while water is fairly acceptable, don’t be that guy.
