I Could Eat: Stauffer’s Whales
By Craig Lloyd on Sep 18th, 2010 at 1:49PM

I Could Eat is a new feature that showcases a scrumptious snack or drink that we think other geeks and gamers “could eat” (in other words, would greatly enjoy). If you have any snacks or drinks that you think are worthy of an I Could Eat shout out, let us know!
You guys know what Goldfish are, right? They’re the overly popular cracker of choice for most folks. I used to eat them regularly until I met another, but similar type of cracker. Now, I refuse to eat Goldfish simply because they have a stale taste and no substance to them.
What other type of cracker could possibly tear me apart from Goldfish? Well, from the makers that bring you the infamous Animal Crackers snack, Stauffer’s Whales are essentially the same idea as Goldfish, except that Whales have a ton more flavor. Once you eat a single Whales cracker, you’ll never go back to Goldfish.

During-Gaming Edibility
Because of the salty and cheese-coated state of Whales, gamers will definitely get a case of cheese fingers, which render your hands useless until you obtain a water source with soap and a drying towel. However, a quick and temporary fix would be the classic finger-licking technique. So, just like the Reese’s Fast Break, Whales are only edible during downtime and movie watching
How to Eat It
Whales are very diverse as far as the different techniques of snacking. However, I recommend setting the box down on its side and move a handful of Whales to the front, just enough so that they’re “peaking” out of the box. This allows you to easily and quickly grab a few Whales at a time.
Best Served With
Whales are also very diverse as to what beverage can be consumed with them. I’ve done orange juice, Mountain Dew, Red Bulls, and even beer. All went well with Whales. This and the eating technique are where you can become the most creative.

Best god damn snack ever.

@PohTayToez – Totally didn’t see that. Thanks :)
I agree they are much better than Goldfish, and they cost less! I am curious, does anybody know: WHICH CAME FIRST, THE GOLDFISH OR THE WHALE? I think I have early childhood memories of whales…
Oh, and by the way, I don’t find whales to be nearly as sticky as nips or cheese-its so if you don’t care about your equipment too much (like I don’t about my computer at work) you can eat them and type at the same time. (like I am doing now) :)
