Dota 2 Announced

As expected, Valve has announced Dota 2. It’s the sequel to “one of the most played games in the world,” Defense of the Ancients. As you can see, the title uses the acronym of the original game, but instead of it being spelled like “DotA,” it’s simply “Dota.”
Game Informer has all of the itching details, but probably due to an extremely high amount of traffic at the time of this writing, we aren’t able to get the page to load.
Dota 2 will be available in 2011.
UPDATE: We finally got the page to load and aside from the better graphics and the return of all the original characters, it looks like the most interesting thing is that Valve will be updating Steamworks specifically for Dota 2. They’ll also be including some neat in-game features like the ability to help out beginners by recommending different strategies, as well as a coaching system with voice chat and screen sharing. Valve promise that the game will get the same community support as its other big titles such as Team Fortress 2.
