Review Roundup: Dead Rising 2
By Craig Lloyd on Oct 17th, 2010 at 11:43AM

While the first the installment of the Dead Rising series seemed to be an overall favorable game, it was only available on the Xbox 360. This time around, Dead Rising 2 has expanded to the PS3 and — most importantly — the PC. With the platform expansion and a new storyline, is the sequel better than the first?
From all of the reviews dripping in, it seems that while it’s real close to offering the same awesome experience as Dead Rising, the second installment still has a few minor issues.
Strategy Informer – 8/10
“The greatest addition to the formula is the co-op multiplayer. Grab a friend online, and the two of you can slice, chop and smash your way through the hordes together, with plenty of missions to complete. The action is very entertaining with a second person keeping you company and you’ll spend hours simply exploring and clearing out entire areas of zombies together.”
IGN – 8/10
“Dead Rising 2 has issues. It’s not the smoothest game and it can feel like the last one, however that doesn’t mean a thing when the game’s this much fun.”
Cheat Code Central – 4.2/5
“Dead Rising 2′s biggest strength lies in its variety of both story and side missions. There is never a shortage of things to do in the game, and the co-op ability makes this a trip you can take several times with friends.”
Giant Bomb – 3/5
“I wish the game had better inventory control and an item storage system to allow you to really explore all of your weapon options. But it’s the other stuff–the still messy survivor AI and poorly built boss battles–that really mars the Dead Rising 2 experience. It’s not an impossible game to love, but as with the first game, you’ll have to look past a lot of blemishes to find happiness. ”
PC Gamer – 82/100
“Wantonly enjoyable and inventive zombie slaughter, held back by some unnecessary saving and leveling hassles.”
