The Weekly Olive: 10/18/10 – 10/24/10

The past week’s best news and featured content you might have missed, as well as a preview of the week ahead…

Trine 2 Confirmed for Release on PC, Coming Spring 2011
- After it was detailed at E3 2010, it seemed like a no-brainer that Trine 2 would be heading to the PC, especially after the first Trine hit PC before the consoles. However, PC gamers usually have to hold their breath nowadays and pray that their favorite devs bring games to the PC. You can finally get rid of that brown paper bag because developer Frozenbyte and publisher Atlus have officially confirmed that Trine 2 will be making its way to PC in Spring 2011.

Apple’s “Back to the Mac” Event
- Apple announced iLife ’11, FaceTime for Mac, OS X Lion, and a new MacBook Air.

Windows 7 Turns 1, Sells 240 Million Copies
- Can you believe it’s only been a year since Windows 7 released? It feels like it’s been way longer than that. To celebrate, Microsoft is having their own little birthday party and they’ll cry if they want to — cry out their sales numbers (that was bad, I know). Redmond has sold over 240 million copies since the OS released one year ago.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Now Available for Pre-Order on Steam
- Amazon and GameStop have had Call of Duty: Black Ops available for pre-order for a few weeks now, but if you were waiting for the digital download, your wait is over because Steam now has Treyarch’s upcoming shooter available for pre-order.

Review Revisited: Far Cry 2
- Far Cry 2 was not only the first game that I reviewed here on Tech Olive, but it was also my very first article on these holy pages (Fun Fact: This also marks my 1,000th post for Tech Olive). Since then, I had felt the need to go back and write a proper review for the game. Well, here we are, two years later to the day and it’s time to revisit and rewrite that review with all the experience points knowledge I have gained over the past two years of writing for Tech Olive.

A preview of the upcoming week:

- Review of Seagate’s new slimmer 1TB GoFlex drive.
- A new edition of The Mamba Files.
- Mini Review of Fallout: New Vegas.
- A new Retro Review.
- Halloween!
