Now that you’ve read our review of the newest installment in the Call of Duty franchise (you did, right?), let’s see what the rest of the panel has to say about the new shooter from Treyarch after the break!
Cheat Code Central – 4.9/5.0
“In all honesty, the multiplayer component is so well thought-out that it could have been released as a stand-alone experience. The new upgrade system, the statistic tracking, and the vast amount of customization is enough to keep players engrossed for hours; and that’s not even part of the gameplay. The real fun is getting to play with all the new kill streak rewards.”
GameSpot – 9/10
“Call of Duty: Black Ops bears the series’ standard superbly, delivering an engrossing campaign and exciting competitive multiplayer.”
Game Informer – 9/10
“It’s tough to hate on something as skillfully executed as Black Ops. Call of Duty remains the smoothest, most approachable first-person shooter out there, and I had a blast playing it. On the other hand, it’s disappointing that Treyarch’s much-hyped huge-budget entry in the franchise feels like Modern Warfare 2.5.”
Destructoid – 6/10
“While you can tell that there is a very well built, solid multiplayer experience at its core, the game is almost impossible to enjoy due to intense lag, server connection errors, and matchmaking issues. These aren’t just annoying bugs — these are issues that render the game damn near unplayable.”
Atomic Gamer – 8/10
“Black Ops does well, mostly due to the sheer amount of exciting and fun multiplayer content, but I’ve got some serious concerns over where Call of Duty is headed.”
