We Taste the Soup: „Dinner Date” Preview

While gameplay experiences like „Dinner Date” will always struggle to appeal to the average gaming masses, we at Tech Olive just can’t get enough of all the risk-taking experimentation and the ingenuity that comes from indie game developers, and „Dinner Date” is no exception. We were fortunate enough to get a near-complete build of the game, so let’s quickly dive right in!

Being very near completion, the preview copy that we were given only lacked a few features, so it gave us a very exciting and accurate look at what to expect from the full game when it releases later this month. Taking the role of the protagonist’s subconscious, you can’t directly issue command inputs. Instead, you influence his actions to a certain extent. And, of course, you’re entertained by the character’s running internal narrative as thoughts stream through his mind. It’s best to look at „Dinner Date” not as a game, but a bold new experiment at creating a new storytelling medium; a totally immersing experience that lets you become another person through their innermost thoughts, feelings, and emotions.
Keep watch for our full review of „Dinner Date” after it releases on November 17th. In the meantime, pre-order „Dinner Date” and check out the first minutes of gameplay below!
