Believe it or not, Dropbox has been in beta this whole time. I know, right? Finally, my favorite file-syncing/sharing tool has hit version 1.0 and it brings with it some improvements and new features that we’ve been waiting for. On top of the usual bug fixes (there were hundreds) and speed improvements, Dropbox now has an even easier setup wizard and the long-awaited “selective sync” feature is now available. With this, you “can choose which folders get downloaded to which computers. This saves you time so you don’t have to sync stuff you don’t need.” Hit up the links below to find out more and begin your download. If you don’t have a Dropbox account yet, you can get one here.

We knew it’d be here within 90 days of Apple’s Back to the Mac event. At least that’s what Big Steve said and it seems like his word will hold true because Apple will officially launch their Mac App Store on January 6th, which will be right in the middle of CES. Good timing, Apple.

Sadly, the Mac App Store will only work with OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and up. Those straggling behind with 10.5 will be SOL.

Naturally, the App Store will work just like how the App Store works on any iDevice.

“The Mac App Store lets you browse new and noteworthy apps, find out what’s hot, view staff favorites, search categories and read customer ratings and reviews. Like on iPhone®, iPod touch® and iPad™, you can purchase, download and install apps in just one click and start using them immediately. Purchased apps can run on all of your personal Macs and updates are delivered directly through the Mac App Store so it’s easy to keep all of your apps up to date.”

There was no word as to how many apps would be available right at launch, but we’re guessing around a few thousand.

A while ago, Seagate launched the Barracuda LP, which was a low-powered hard drive for the environmentally friendly. This time, the company has launched its successor, the Barracuda Green. We must say it’s not the most unique of names (we’re looking at you, Western Digital), but it does server its purpose. Seagate calls it the highest performing eco-friendly desktop hard drive in the world by making it low-powered without sacrificing much performance. It spins at 5,900RPM and uses the company’s own SmartAlign technology to enable the benefits of the new 4K sector standard. It’s available now in 1TB, 1.5TB and 2TB flavors. A 6Gbps option is available for the 1.5TB and 2TB models.

We’re not really sure what Time Magazine was thinking when they named Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg as their Person of the Year for 2010, but they say it’s because of his work for “connecting more than half a billion people and mapping the social relations among them; for creating a new system of exchanging information; and for changing how we all live our lives.” Thing is, he accomplished that a whole six years ago when Zuckerberg created Facebook. This year, he didn’t really do a lot besides watch the numbers increase. Way to be late to the party, Time Magazine. Then again, a movie was made in his honor, which was insanely good. That might have had something to do with it.

Anyone else think that the headshot of Zuckerberg on the cover looks a little creepy?
