I Could Rule: Tech Olive

Now that Craig’s pandemic-inducing announcement has been given enough time to marinate and soak into the fragile minds concerned, it’s time for my awe-inspiring and patriotic speech: *ahem*

It’s true, after over two years of  Tech Olive being a Craig-and-Tim (and-a-few-extras-off-and-on) team, it’s changing to a Tim-and-his-awesome-intellect one-man-wrecking-crew. Some further changes will happen, but none will be as radical as Craig’s previous post might have implied; For the future, I’ll focus a bit more on reviews than daily news, but I’ll do my best to keep a happy balance between the two.

As far as site aesthetics, Tech Olive hasn’t stopped evolving visually since its creation over 2 years ago, and that will remain the site’s modus operandi. However, since the site went through a mini-redesign recently, expect this revision to stick around for at least a few more months, though some minor changes to the Navbar and a few other features are in the works.

Hopefully my soothing words will have been enough to convince you that life with Tech Olive will continue much as is has since the beginning (though perhaps with some inaccuracies in grammar, now that I am without an Editor-in-Chief fixitating on my Engrish). And, hey, if all else fails, I can always just change the banner from “Tech Olive” into “I Could Eat, with a little tech news” and eat more food.

In the meantime, let’s all hope Craig’s real-life plans fail miserably so that he’s forced to come back as El Capitan of the USS Tech Olive.

What We Were Up To Before Tech Olive

Before Tech Olive, Tim and I were just regular computer illiterate idiots (hell, we still are), but we had to start somewhere in order to learn and gain knowledge about how computers and technology worked. So, where did we start? We ended up starting a little computer “business” and called it CT Customs (CT = Craig and Tim). It ultimately failed epically before it even began, but we didn’t care.

The first thing we did was pool together all the money we had from our piggy banks, which was a little over $500, and built our first computer ever. The rig consisted of an AMD Athlon 64 3400, 1GB of DDR400 RAM, Nvidia GeForce FX 5500, a 250GB SATA hard drive, DVD burner, and Windows XP Home Edition.

Reminder: Take Our Demographic Survey!

Howdy, folks. To get a better idea of what our readers (you guys) are like, we’re going to be conducting a survey to gather demographic information about our audience. This includes the basics like age, residency, education, employment, etc. We’re not just doing this for kicks though. We should also say that it’s going to be for potential advertisers in the future. I know that it sounds bad in that “we’re giving your information to advertisers,” but this is nothing like how Google or Facebook does it (which could possibly be crossing the line of ethics). We would only be giving them an overall summary about our readers, not individually. By doing this, we’ll be able to have relevant ads on our site that cater towards you guys. I know people hate ads, but it takes money to run a website and I hope our loyal readers will support us through this.

The survey should only take you about five minutes (ten minutes tops) to complete and it’s completely anonymous! We will have no idea who you are, so your privacy is completely safe. Please help us out and hit up the link below to start taking the survey!

The world’s biggest sports event is being held in Dallas, TX tomorrow night. Super Bowl XLV will see the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers face off inside Cowboys Stadium to crown the best team in the NFL for the 2010-2011 season.

What you might not know though is the technology that’s being used inside the $1.1 billion Cowsboys Stadium for this year’s Super Bowl. It’s the most technologically advanced sports stadium in the world and it’s also home to the world’s largest HD display. I’ll give you a just quick run-down of some of the technology that would make any sports stadium blush.
