The first bits of video from an actual production unit of the Canon 7D have appeared on internet and it looks quite awesome. Dan Chung, the filmmaker at the time, used some pretty serious gear to accompany the 7D during his shooting. He used extremely expensive lenses, a specialized video viewfinder, a wide-angle mattebox for lens flare reduction, and an external microphone for audio. Obviously, at no surprise, the 7D is now official courtesy of Canon. All the rumored specs are correct and we forgot to mention last time that it will shoot full 1080p. Price is at $1,699 for the body-only and $1,899 with an EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM zoom lens. Release date is set for the end of September. Hit up the link below for the full press release.

Some photos and details of Canon’s newest addition to their line of DSLRs have been leaked out for all of us to enjoy and drool over. The Canon 7D will include an 18 MP sensor, dual D4 processors (shoots 8 FPS), an ISO from 100 to 6400 (including a special 12800 mode) and a 3″ LCD. It will also have 100% viewfinder coverage and a built-in digital level.

No official word from Canon yet and nothing has been said about price or availability.
