mw2party

That’s right, folks. We’re going to celebrate the release of Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2 by putting on a Launch/LAN party. Why? Because we’re possibly dealing with the game of the year for 2009 and it’s disgusting how big of Call of Duty fans we are here at the Olive.

Who: Tech Olive Staff and Friends
When: Tuesday, November 10, 2009
Where: Craig’s place and the Internets

We’re going to hold a very special LAN party at Craig’s pad where the Tech Olive Staff and friends will all get together and play some MW2 all night long.

For those that can’t make it, be sure to check our Twitter feed constantly, as we’ll be tweeting updates throughout the night and also the preparation the day before. While you’re at it you can follow the Tech Olive Staff as well. We’ll also be doing something special with the website that day and also the days leading up to the release.

Modern Warfare 2 Launch Trailer Released

This is what I wanted to do to the trailer's music coordinator when I heard Eminem start rapping.

That’s right, Infinity Ward has released Modern Warfare 2‘s “release trailer” today. Am I the only one that assumed “launch trailer” meant the trailer a developer would release with the game’s launch? Well, at any rate, MW2 is still a few days away (check out our countdown at the top-right of the homepage), but we’re given this small glimpse into what will ultimately eat our days in the near future. Follow us after the break for the video.

Modern Warfare 2 Devs Hold Live Chat

No, you are mistaken, I have never used this image before. These are not the droids you're looking for.

If you missed the live chat session that Infinity Ward held with their fans earlier today, you have nothing to worry about. Best Buy saved the entire chatlog and you can read it on their forums. Fans asked the questions that are on everyone’s minds and Infinity Ward has finally issued responses to all of them. Don’t get too excited, because there isn’t much progress made on the outlook of server setup, but it at least give gamers some closure.

[Thanks, Darren]

It's frickin' cold out here and Jeff is hogging the toilet again. He's got 8 seconds before I blow the door off its hinges and pull him off the can.

We have another multiplayer spoiler coming at you, this is your last chance to turn your virgin eyes away.

Recently released is the (presumed) full list of multiplayer perk choices for MW2. With many familiar perks, there are still quite a few new additions to the list. One of the changes that seems to confuse us the most is the removal of “Martyrdom” (it has been placed in Deathstreak bonuses), yet they kept “Last Stand,” which is the other perk that generates an endless stream of crying children in CoD4 matches. For the full list of perks, check out MW2Blog‘s post.

[Thanks, Dylan]

Spoiled....as a child. Needed some stiff.....discipline.

If you want to avoid any Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer spoilers, then stop reading now. The following information and videos do not contain any spoilers regarding single player (except maybe what weapons you’ll see).

A video has released detailing every weapon choice in multiplayer as well as a video showcasing the motherload of all killstreak bonuses: The Tactical Nuke. Join us after the break for more info and the previously mentioned videos.

UPDATED: New Modern Warfare 2 Promo Video

Snake! We need you to....Erm...I mean: Ghost! We need you to save the princess! Wait, that's Mario's email. Crap.

Robert Bowling has released a new video of Modern Warfare 2. The rather humorous video features Philadelphia Phillies’ pitcher Cole Hamels telling us about the issue that is grenade spamming. The informative message is brought to us by the Fight Against Grenade Spam, or FAGS for short. No, I’m not making this up. Check out the video for yourself after the break.

UPDATE: Infinity Ward has removed the video from their YouTube account without notice. There has been no information as to why they pulled the video, but I think it’s safe to assume it was because of the anti-homosexuality message.

They hadn't even lifted off yet and they're already jumping out of the chopper to avoid Pvt. Sander's fear-of-flying projectile-vomit.

There had been some rumors flying around regarding this detail, but only recently have they been officially confirmed. “It’s not something you can toggle on and off in ANY game,” according to Robert Bowling.  “This is just another cool way to play the game, you obviously will still have the option to play gametypes normal as well.” If you enable the 3rd-person view, then the change is made mandatory for everyone in the match.

Modern Warfare 2 Spoilers Ahoy!

They see me spoilin', they hatin'.....

Robert Bowling recently Tweeted a less-than-encouraging message to all the MW2 fans of the world. It reads as follows:

Just an FYI, if you’re wanting a spoiler free and pure Modern Warfare 2 experience, now would be a good time for a media blackout. #MW2

Thanks a lot, Robert. We at the Olive now get to ruin the game for ourselves so that we can bring our readers the news.

Isn't anal intercourse fun?

Listed among Steam’s recent list of updates is the announcement of MW2 coming to Steam. All was normal until I read the date it was proposed to be available; 11/12/2009. Why is Steam getting the game two days later than the retail release? The game can only be played through Steam, so why the move? I’m sure it has something to do with the game’s launch sales looking better if the sales are all through retail outlets. As if all this wasn’t enough, now Infinity Ward aims to piss off any fans they have left that rely on Steam.

UPDATE: A quick look at the game’s product page in Steam’s online store shows the game becoming playable on the 13th of November. This just keeps getting stranger.

In the event that you do drop the soap, don't forget your riot shield.

Infinity Ward has officially released the minimum requirements for playing MW2 on your PC and they are actually pretty impressive. It seems the game’s engine has taken a step towards CoD4‘s performance and away from the resource-hogging World at War. Follow the break for complete minimum specs.
