So, here we are. It’s our final article in our year-long Mamba Files series. What are we doing this month? A complete disassembly. For those wanting to fix, tweak, customize, or maintain their Mamba, look no further. It’s also worth noting that this doesn’t break any warranty seals, so you could actually do this without leaving any evidence of tampering, thus (in theory) keeping your warranty intact. But it’s best to not tinker around if you want to heavily rely on the warranty later.

For $19.99 you get a fresh, new high-endurance Lithium Ion battery that — according to Razer — will double the Mamba’s estimated battery life to 28 hours of non-stop gaming. You might remember us complaining about wanting more from the Mamba’s battery in our Mamba Files articles, and this is Razer delivering to their crying fans.

You have two choices: For a limited time, you can purchase the battery with a new Mamba for $129.99, or you can purchase just the upgraded battery for $19.99.

Back in January we tested the Mamba’s battery to see how well it compared to Razer’s claim of lasting 12 solid hours of gaming before requiring life-support in the form of its charging cable. To its credit, the Mamba really lasted 12 hours of hard gaming before begging for mercy, so lets see if it can perform just as well after these past 9 months of wear and tear.

When I first learned that Razer offered a set of upgraded teflon feet for the Mamba, I was a bit confused. Sure, it was cool that Razer gave you the option to upgrade the mouse, but at the same time, it feels a bit shady. If these feet are so great, then why aren’t they included with the Mamba in the first place? After all, it is Razer’s most expensive mouse, so is it too much to expect that it comes with the very best from Razer? No matter the case, it’s time to see if these replacement feet are worth the $10.

For The Mamba Files: Month 8 we’ll be shifting focus a bit from the Mamba itself. We’ll be talking about the charging dock that also doubles as the Mamba’s wireless receiver. Adorned with a nice blue glowing base and a stylish design (with or without the mouse perched atop), one could be forgiven for wondering just how much there can really be said about this device. Well, truth be told, I am left with wanting a bit more from the dock at times and that’s exactly what we’ll be focusing on this month.

With any high-tech device comes the expectation of some little kinks that users must fix, adapt to, or otherwise remedy and the Mamba is certainly no exception. While the Mamba does have a nice warranty that is more than equipped to have this issues resolved, we’ll treat this article as if you bought the Mamba second-hand or the warranty has run out, thus forcing you to fix the issues yourself.
